Revolutionary War Military Service: Edward enlisted in Wilkes Co, North Carolina in 1778 and served 9 months under Col. Abraham Shepherd and Capt. Bradley in 10th North Carolina Regiment. He enlisted again in 1782 under Capt. Hadley in the same regiment and served until the end of the war. He received a grant of 640 acres on the Cumberland River in Tennessee. 376


Edward married Felicia "Feely" LEWIS in January 1767 in Wilkes County, North Carolina.376 (Felicia "Feely" LEWIS died on 20 November 1849 in Ashe County, North Carolina 376.)

  Marriage Notes:

Edward's Rev. War pension application papers note that they were married in WIlkes County, North Carolina in 1767 but the county was not formed until 1777. It could be that they were married in the area that later became Wilkes County.
