Mr. Howard, known as "Big Henry", was a pioneer citizen of Wallins, having been born and reared there. He was the son of John C. Howard. Mr. Howard was an influential citizen, owning much property in and about Wallins. He had been active up until about four months ago when he suffered a stroke of paralysis, from which he never recovered.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, an adopted daughter, and two sisters.
