  Death Notes:

It is unknown exactly when Delinda died but it was likely before 7 Apr 1834. On that date, Elisha Shaw was appointed guardian to Nehemiah, Lucinda, James and David Weeks [which indicates they were all minor children at that time]. Less than a year later on 5 Jan 1835, her son, Nehemiah Weeks [who apparently became of age], was appointed guardian to Lucinda, David & James Weeks and John W. Shaw. The children were listed as children and heirs of James Weeks dec'd and Elisha Shaw dec'd. Also on that date, Job Weeks [paternal grandfather of the Weeks children], Nehemiah Weeks and Joel L. Hankins [son-in-law of Delinda] were appointed administrators of the estate of Elisha Shaw. [From Livingston County, Kentucky Estate Records.]

She probably died in Livingston County, Kentucky.

  More Information:

1810 United States Federal Census, Nehemiah Younger household, Ohio County, Virginia 1913: Delinda appears to be counted in her father's household as a female age 16-25.

Property: 1828 1831, in Livingston County, Kentucky. The 1828 tax records show Delinda owned property in Livingston County, Kentucky (250 acres of land along the Ohio River valued at $342). Delinda purchased an adjoining tract of 250 acres from Lilburn Lewis on 1 Mar 1830 for $306.50. That transaction was completed on 1 Oct 1830. On 1 Oct 1831 a corrected deed was recorded which was a correction to the one filed for this transaction. The original deed conveyed the wrong tract to Delinda.

1830 United States Federal Census, Malinda Weeks household, Livingston County, Kentucky: Delinda's household consisted of 2 m <5 [David & James Jr.], 1 m 15-20 [Nehemiah], 1 f 5-10 [Lucinda], 1 f 10-15 [Mary "Polly"], 1 f 30-40 [Delinda]. [Even though the head of household is listed as Malinda, this is believed to be Delinda Weeks as the ages match up with what is known about the family and they were listed next to her son-in-law, Joel L. Hankins.]

Property: 8 May 1833, in Livingston County, Kentucky. Delinda and Elisha Shaw sold 83 1/3 acres in Livingston County on the Ohio River to Joel L. Hankins on 8 May 1833. The record refers to Delinda as formerly being Delinda Weeks and also references James Weeks.

Delinda married James WEEKS Sr., son of Job WEEKS and Unknown, ca 1811 in Ohio County, Virginia. (James WEEKS Sr. died ca 1827 in Livingston County, Kentucky.)

Residence: 1821, Pope County, Illinois. 1910 James and Delinda Weeks appear to have been living in Pope County, Illinois according to a document signed by them on 15 Feb 1821 authroizing James' father, Job Weeks, to act on their behalf in collecting Delinda's inheritance from her father's estate in Washington County, Pennsylvania. [It's also possible that the document was done in Pope County because that was where Job Weeks was living.
