1860 United States Federal Census, John T. Bennett household, State Line, Heard County, Georgia 2358: Nancy Jane was living with her parents. She was listed as Nancy Bennett, age 8, born in Georgia.

1870 United States Federal Census, J. S. Lanier household, Chambers County, Alabama 2349: Nancy was living with Joseph and their daughter, Lula. She was listed as Nancy Jane Lanier, age 17, keeping house, born in Georgia, unable to read or write.

1870 United States Federal Census, J. T. Burnett [sic] household, Rock Mills, Randolph County, Alabama 2359: Nancy was listed with her parents even though she was married and living in Chambers County, Alabama with her husband and infant daughter. In her parents household, she was listed as Nancy Burnett [sic], age 18, born in Alabama.

1880 United States Federal Census, Joseph Lanier household, Rock Mills, Randolph County, Alabama 1152: Nancy was living with her husband and children in Beat #11. She was listed as Nancy J. Lanier, wife, age 27, born in Georgia. It was noted in the 1870 census that she could not read or write but this record indicates that she could.

1900 United States Federal Census, Joseph Lanier household, Muldon, Monroe County, Mississippi 1150: Nancy was living with her husband, Joseph, several of their children and her sister, Mattie Bennett. She was listed as Nancy J. Lanier, wife, age 48, born Oct 1851 in Alabama, married 30 years, mother of 14 children, 10 living. [The ten living children and one of the four deceased children have been identified by name.]

1910 United States Federal Census, Jesse H. Walls household, 9 Carroll Pl, Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia 2360: Nancy Jane was living with her daughter, Lillie Walls, & her husband. She was listed as Nannie LaNeir, mother-in-law, age 56, born in Georgia, widow, mother of 12 children, 6 living.

Residence: 9 September 1918, 42 Kelly Street, Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. 2361 Fred's WWI draft registration lists this as his address. He listed Nancy Jane as his nearest relative and also gave this address for her. This is Hettie's address in the 1920 census so it seems that Nancy Jane and Fred were living with Hettie at the time of his draft registration on 9 Sep 1918.

1920 United States Federal Census, Frederick J. Lanier household, 206 Park Street, Lindale, Floyd County, Georgia 2362: Nancy Jane was living with her son, Fred and his family. She was listed as Nancy J. Lanier, mother, age 67, born in Georgia.

Residence: October 1926, 266 McKenzie Drive, Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. 2363 Nancy was living with daughter, Lillie Roberts, at the time of her death according to her obituary. Her death certificate shows information was supplied by James D. Lanier and gives his address as this same Atlanta address but according to the funeral home records, James actually lived in Birmingham so this address was Lillie's.

The funeral of Mrs. Nancy J. Lanier, who was taken by death in tlanta on Tuesday afternoon, was held at Hilview Cemetery this morning at 11 o'clock with Dr. John S. Jenkins, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiating.

The body of Mrs. Lanier was sent to this city from Atlanta where she died for interment. At the time of her death she was living with her daughter, Mrs. Lillie Roberts, Hunter-Owen Funeral directors were in charge of arrangements.
