William David Owens was born at Spiro, Ky on April 5, 1875, the son of Matt and Celia Owens. He passed away June 16, 1953 at 6 A. M. at the home of his daughter Mrs. Mary Ellen Noe at Spiro.

He was united in marriage to Ida Bell Owens on April 13, 1895. To this union were born five surviving daughters, Mrs. Sally Denney of Willailla, Mrs. Myrtle Roe of Louisville, Mrs. Ollie Bradley, Mrs. Mary Ellen Noe and Mrs. Dollie Payne all of Spiro. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Emma Taylor of Mount Vernon, 22 grandchildren, eight great grand children and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. Owens united with the Freedom Baptist Church at an early age and had spent his entire life in Rockcastle County

He was a kind and loving father and grandfather and was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family as well as his neighbors and friends.

Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 18, 1953 at the Freedom Baptist Church. Interment in the Freedom Cemetery with Bro. Ch. H. Philbeck officiating. Arrangements were by Cox Funeral Home.
