1860 United States Federal Census, Robt. Gamble household, Carroll County, Georgia 3005: Robert and Burnetta were living in District #9 with children: George, Frances, Myra and Rilla.

Civil War, Confederate Military Service, 10 March 1861-3 May 1862: Robert enlisted in Company H of the 41st Georgia Infantry on 10 Mar 1861 at Carrolton, Geoergia. He was killed in Columbus, Mississippi on 3 May 1862 and is buried there. The register of claims of deceased officers and soldiers from Georgia notes that a claim regarding Sgt. Robert H.
