John married Gracie EAVES, daughter of Burwell EAVES and Izza MALONE, in September 1800 in Rutherford County, North Carolina ³⁰⁷⁷.^,3080 (Gracie EAVES was born on 10 November 1780 in North Carolina ²⁹⁵¹ and died ca 1855 in Meriwether County, Georgia ²⁹⁵¹.)

• Marriage Bond: 12 September 1800, Rutherford County, North Carolina ³⁰⁸⁰ Bondsman was Robinson Freeman.

• Residence: John and Gracie were married in Rutherford County, North Carolina but apparently moved to South Carolina shortly after that since at least three of their sons were born in South Carolina. Their exact location in South Carolina is unknown.
